Join us and Hannah of Hannah Desch Ceramics for a morning of creative ceramic fun!
In this workshop you will learn to make your own unique, hand-built ceramic bowl. You will decorate your bowl using colored paints specifically made for clay (called engobes). You will also be able to use stamps or leaves to imprint designs into you bowl or draw your own designs using the sgraffito method.

Please note:
You will not be able to take your bowl home on the day of the workshop. All ceramic pieces must go through two separate firings in a kiln. After the initial firing, a clear coat of glaze will be put on the bowls which will make them have a glossy finish. They will be returned to Root within two weeks of workshop date. All bowls will be food, microwave, and dishwasher safe.
The workshop will be equipped with:
-1- 9"x9" slab of clay
-A hump mold (for forming bowl shape)
-Basic tools for working with clay
-Rubber and handmade clay stamps
-Leaves/ natural objects for imprinting
-Colorful engobes for painting
-Paint brushes
*This is not required but feel free to bring your own items to texture your bowl. This might include plants, lace doilies, produce netting, pasta noodles...etc. The possibilities are endless!
-Sips and snacks!

ABOUT THE HOST:
Hannah Desch received her BFA in Ceramics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Since moving to Fresno, her ceramic work has been sold in many shops in town and at several shows including with the San Joaquin Clay and Glass Association. PLEASE NOTE:
Class must meet minimum capacity of 5 participants. If less than 5 spaces are sold, Root and Hannah reserves the right to cancel the class and issue a refund to those who have already signed up.

-Make sure to arrive 5-10 minutes early to grab a refreshment, mingle, and settle in as we will start promptly.
-Metered street parking is available on Fulton street in front of the shop. Meters are FREE after 6pm & on weekends!
