Part performance art and part installation, this production transports the viewer to a new space and time, carried by narrative elements and sound, the movements of the performers, a mechanical tree, a painted landscape and enigmatic animal masks.

Trauma and magical transformations occur in the garden connecting the archetype of the seductress to the landscape and the collective animal impulses that dwell within all human beings.

Quote from Tracy Teran, writer, producer and performer, “We’re all a little bit Eve. This production proposes a new, contemporary structure inspired by the biblical story of Genesis. For who can’t relate to the complex burden of carrying around a dark secret from the past? Perhaps we embrace the roles of temptress, victim and vessel or reject the narrative completely--or oscillate through the levels of her character throughout the day depending on the context. Some of the most iconic images of the Western art canon are portraits of the fallen, broken Eve coupled with the redemptive, pure Mary. I revisited her fractured identity through the lens of magical realism in an effort to pry open gendered expectations and address the themes of female desire, physical impulses, rejection and redemption.

The performance incorporates anthropomorphic masks, costumes, choreography and a set crafted by hand to provide the viewer with a beautiful escape to reimagine how the past informs the present. It is an all-female, collaborative production featuring: Yanavey McCloskey as Eve, Tracy Teran as Coyote, and Adrianna Sorondo as the narrator. Elena Rezai coordinated the choreography, Julia Woli Scott created the painted background, and Emily Schellenberg designed the costumes. Tracy Teran created the sculptural masks and designed the mechanical tree.“
