Restaurant of the Week: Cafe 1055 at Holiday Inn

Café 1055 opened along with the completely revamped Holiday Inn in June, 2008. It serves hotel guests, but also welcomes those who work and visit Downtown Fresno for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Café 1055 is the featured restaurant this week in the Downtown Restaurant of the Week promotion. During the week of March 8-15, the spotlight will focus on Café 1055 for the Downtown workforce and throughout the wider community. Each week, a new Downtown restaurant is featured.

Café 1055 offers an array of dishes from fresh beer battered Fish ‘n’ Chips to a 14 oz. Cowboy Ribeye. Executive chef Greg Franklin, formerly of the Elbow Room, prides himself on specialty sauces and dressings that he creates himself. The luncheon buffet is a tasty and speedy way to make it back to the office in time.

The Sports Bar also offers a full menu, along with Happy Hour appetizers and 3 flat screen televisions. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 5:00-7:00 pm. Regular hours run from 5:00-10:00 pm Monday through Friday and 2:00-10:00 pm on weekends. Drink and appetizer specials are $3.00. Parking is validated. And don’t miss the specialty drinks. Cotton Candy Martini, Green Sparkler, Gin Bramble, City Girl or Michelada are sure to hit the spot!

Café 1055 is a great place for families. If kids under 12 order from the Kids Menu and are accompanied by an adult, they ear for free! A full menu of American favorites has everything from brisk lunch items to hearty dinner entrees cooked up with flare.

Catering by Chef Greg Franklin is available independently or in conjunction with meetings or events that can be held in the extensive Holiday Inn Convention Center. Cafe 1055 is located at 1055 Van Ness Avenue between Tulare and Fresno Streets. You can enter from the lobby of the Holiday Inn or through the Mariposa Mall entrance. Hours for breakfast and lunch are 6:00 am – 2:00 pm, while dinner hours run from 5:00 – 10:00 pm.

If you’re not walking to Café 1055, the best place to park is to enter the underground garage through the Holiday Inn driveway. Ask for parking validation.
