Downtown Fresno is fortunate to have abundant green space and public parks, providing shade and relaxation in the warm Fresno summers, and a welcome respite from the busy urban life of the central business district.

Courthouse Park

Fresno's oldest park, Courthouse Park has been the site of community activity since the 1870's. With a central position within the downtown street grid, Courthouse Park features hundreds of trees, over 20 monuments and memorials, large grassy areas, and numerous places for rest and relaxation. Courthouse Park is connected to The Fulton Mall and Eaton Plaza by the Mariposa pedestrian mall. Courthouse Park is also home to the Fresno Area Express (FAX) bus station, providing convenient access from all parts of the city.

The Fulton Mall

Among Downtown Fresno's most prominent green spaces is the six block pedestrian oasis of the Fulton Mall, stretching from Tuloumne Street in the north to Inyo Street in the south. The Fulton Mall features thousands of trees and plantings, and over 20 water features as it stretches through the heart of Fresno's Central Business District. The Fulton Mall is home to a free speech platform, two play areas for children and a space for concerts and other large community events. The Fulton Mall is connected to Courthouse Park and Eaton Plaza by the Mariposa pedestrian mall.

Eaton Plaza

Eaton Plaza is located at the heart of Fresno’s Civic Center between the Memorial Auditorium, Fresno County Public Library, County Courthouse and Fresno Police Station. Covering one square block, the site is borderd by Fresno Street, Mariposa Street, N Street and O Street. The historic Fresno Water Tower, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, sits at the northeast corner overlooking the park. The plaza is home to a 300 seat amphitheatre and large grassy areas. When completed, the plaza will feature even more green space, fountains and public gathering areas. Eaton Plaza is currently home to an annual summertime Movies in the Park series sponsored by the City of Fresno. Eaton Plaza is connected to both Courthouse Park and The Fulton Mall by the Mariposa pedestrian mall.
