Saturday October 25 2008 is Make A Difference Day. Join the volunteers at Fulton Mall in Downtown Fresno.
Expect plenty of activity this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. As part of the city-wide Make A Difference Day effort that includes 6 project sites, the Fulton Mall project features planting in the many landscape features along the Mall. From ivies to grasses to daffodils, the beds will be prepared and planted by the volunteers.
Fulton Mall volunteers will tackle other jobs during the busy morning. An assessment team will catalog conditions along the Mall that might require future attention. Cleanup tasks include graffiti removal and pressure washing, supplementing the work of daily maintenance and graffiti staff. Up to 50 volunteers are expected.
Make A Difference Day is a national day of service. Over 3 million Americans work nationwide to complete community-based projects fueled by volunteer efforts. Training for the Fresno volunteers is provided at each site by Americorps volunteers.
