Major League Soccer Makes A Stop In Fresno

Fresno Fuego Set to Play the San Jose Earthquakes in Exhibition Match February 20th
 

Fresno FuegoThe Fresno Fuego Futbol Club has announced that it will play an exhibition match with the San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS. The exhibition match will be played at Chukchansi Park in Downtown Fresno on Friday, February 20th at 7:00 PM.

“It is an exciting time for our organization; these are the moments our young aspiring players dream of…to play against the best teams and players in our country,” Fresno Fuego General Manager Jeremy Schultz said. “San Jose has a rich history of soccer tradition at the professional level and we are elated to have them chose to visit Fresno as a final stop in preparation for their 2009 MLS Season.”

San Jose comes to Fresno in its second year of existence after taking a two-year hiatus from MLS action. The Earthquakes were an MLS powerhouse from 2000 until the team moved to Houston in 2005. Headlining the Earthquakes’ roster is two-time MLS Goalkeeper of the Year winner Joe Cannon and former English Premier League midfielder Darren Huckerby.
