The Visit

Catagory: Public Art

The Visit by Clement Renzi (1925-2009) is located on Fulton just south of Tuolumne

Clement Renzi was a local sculptor with extensive credentials. He studied at UC Berkley, New York Sculpture Center, and University of Applied Arts in Vienna. His works are included in the permanent collections of the University of Virginia, Notre Dame University, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, as well as elsewhere in Fresno and surrounding valley towns.

The Visit is a particularly visitor-friendly sculpture; children like to climb up and sit in the laps of the female figures. Renzi’s works enjoy prominent places in public art installations across Central California. Cast in Spain, The Visit was created specifically for Fulton, and was installed shortly after the mall opened. It remains one of the iconic images in Downtown Fresno to this day, and is one of Renzi’s best-known works.

Another Renzi sculpture “The Yokuts Indian” can also be found on Fulton north of Inyo.
