Cinco de Mayo

Downtown Fresno Gears Up For Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival

The Downtown Association, in partnership with Univision Television and Univision Radio, is proud to present Fresno’s annual Cinco de Mayo Festival on historic Fulton  Mall.

Celebrated worldwide as an occasion to pay tribute to the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in on May 5, 1862, Cinco de Mayo is one of Downtown Fresno's biggest annual events. Nearly 60,000 people attended this free, three day festival in 2009, held on the historic Fulton Mall.

Highlighting authentic Mexican food, dance and music, special activities for kids and beer gardens, the celebration is a great weekend destination for families. People working in Downtown Fresno can take advantage of the Festival food offerings during lunch on Friday, April 30.

3-Dimensinal Chalk Art at Cinco

An internationally-renowned three-dimensional chalt artist will be working during Cinco de Mayo, creating a 24-foot guitar with Mexican dancers and a speeding Amtrak train. She will be working on Kern Street outside the back gate of Chukchansi Park, just off Fulton Mall. Here is a rough sketch.
